A DISRUPTIVE SOFTWARE & TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM FOR INNOVATION ON A GLOBAL SCALE.

OPTIMIZED FOR A WIDE VARIETY OF UNIQUE ELECTRIC MACHINE APPLICATIONS.

Axial gap machines have superior attributes for many applications. While permanent magnets and modern power electronics have been applied to optimize both radial and axial gap machines, with ECM’s technology, motor design is no longer constrained by uniform wire diameter and geometry.

Cost-Effective Motor Solutions

ECM has perfected a process that optimizes copper geometries and winding patterns to deliver superior efficiency at a reduced cost.

“Our innovative software and technology have a broad range of commercial applications and disrupts the norm of the motor industry.”

- Chris Fielding
VP of Applications Engineering, ECM

AUV

ECM’s motors integrate seamlessly with different diameter AUVs to provide compact, efficient solutions. This contributes to increased payload and longer range. ECM is currently delivering a high torque, low RPM motor to a large AUV manufacturer that is significantly quieter and more efficient than their present solution.

E-MOBILITY

ECM has developed a prototype drive motor for a German manufacturer’s next generation mid-drive e-bike. The ECM solution has reduced weight and volume, improved integration, maximized efficiency and enhanced the ride experience.  ECM is working with the same manufacturer to develop a “last mile package delivery” solution for European cities where internal combustion engines are banned within the city limits.

MARITIME

ECM was awarded a MARAD contract to design and build a replacement 3hp motor for an application aboard a government training vessel. The motor has undergone sea trials, reduced weight by more than 60% and improved operating efficiency.

MEDICAL

ECM is engaged in several cutting edge medical projects making an impact in patient lives. Our motor technology is powering an arm brace that helps restore function in arms paralyzed by stroke, brachial plexus injury (BPI), cerebral palsy and other neuromuscular diseases and injuries. ECM’s technology can also be found in a lightweight oxygen concentrator that allows patients to remain active and move about without the inconvenience of an oxygen tank.

ROBOTICS

ECM’s motors are ideal for robotic applications. Our Axial Flux geometry, zero cogging, high power density and ability to integrate seamlessly with torque multipliers (such as Harmonic Drives) enable compact, powerful and cost-effective solutions for the robotics industry.
